Critics of PANDAS published a paper against prompt treatment for children in January 2012. At that time they did not disclose their affiliations with pharmaceutical companies like Psyadon – who develop tic suppression drugs.
The Journal of Pediatrics has issued a correction for the undeclared disclosures.
PANDAS Network.org’s summary and parent editorial for this controversial paper was sent out in the January newsletter.

So an article appears in Jpeds that downplays the relationship to strep, downplays the autoimmune nature, discourages timely diagnoses, and discourages simple inexpensive treatment with antibiotics that has very good chance of stopping the disorder in its tracks. Surprise, surprise, the authors have undisclosed COI with drug manufacturers who offer an expensive, years-long treatment that only suppresses symptoms, rather than a simple cure. I didn’t think it was possible to become more cynical toward mainstream medicine, but these guys have taken it up a notch.
Anyone know how the COI was uncovered? What was Jpeds role in this debacle?
